How to measure your body
For simple alterations, we may require your bust, waist and hip measurements. When measuring your body, it’s important to wear the underwear you’d wear with the garment and not wear bulky clothing. For accuracy, we recommend taking your measurements in front of a mirror.
For advanced alterations, for example on suits or eveningwear, a fitting may be required.
Measuring your bust or chest
We need bust measurements for taking in or letting out fabric on dresses, blouses and shirts. You can take your measurements at home.
- Wrap a tape measure around your chest to sit at the fullest part of your bust.
- Make sure the tape is parallel to the floor, and not dropping or angled at the back.
- Let the tape sit comfortably – not too tight and not too loose – with just enough ease to move.
Measuring your waist
We need waist measurements for taking in or letting out fabric on trousers, dresses and skirts. You can take your measurements at home.
- Wrap a tape measure around the smallest part of your waist.
- Make sure the tape is parallel to the floor, and not dropping or angled at the back.
- Let the tape sit comfortably – not too tight and not too loose – with just enough ease to move.
Measuring your leg
